09.12.08 | FALL 2008
Highlights this fall include two important new albums: The Five Deadly Venoms' debut and a new offering from Dufus. The Venoms are spending long hours in the studio editting and mixing the killer tracks they set down earlier in the summer, and Dufus will hit Emandee Studios later in September to record their first studio album to be recorded in Brooklyn in years.
As usual, you can see The Five Deadly Venoms at their regular performances at The Living Room in Manhattan. Blue Harvest and The McCabes will be offering some great performances around NYC as well this fall. Check the calendar for more details!

07.01.08 | SUMMER 2008
Come see the Five Deadly Venoms every week at the Living Room, one of New York City's best venues for live music. The Venoms have come to represent the future of bluegrass in NYC, and are set to release their first album in September! Visit the calendar page for more info.

04.17.08 | SPRING 2008
The Five Deadly Venoms are heading to the studio to record our first album! We've been hard at work over the last year getting our sound together and writing and arranging material as a band. Every time we get together the ideas just flow; it's time to get them down on tape. We'll spend a week outside of Woodstock in a lovely old house with a bunch of fancy microphones and a bbq. It's a dream scenerio for a band to get away from the city and focus on our music day and night. Please do check out our demos on my "listen!" page; this band has put a lot of love into every performance.
Blue Harvest is hard at work as always adding new material and playing gigs pretty much every week. We hit the Living Room hard and are hoping to be back there soon. This is one of the tightest bluegrass bands I've ever witnessed and I do suggest you come out and see us live.
The McCabes are back in top shape after our tour in March. We are set to start up our weekly residency in Times Square every thursday.
Other news: keep your ears peeled for my flatpicking on Dan O'day's new album "Eagle Ridge" set for a late spring release. Also check me out with Citigrass tuesdays in May in Times Square's Virgil's Restaurant.
As always, thanks for reading and I hope to see you out at a show real soon.

01.03.08 | Winter 2008
It's a new year! I'm back from Dufus' european tour and ready to get down to business in New York! I'll be gigging around the city with both Blue Harvest and The Five Deadly Venoms over the next few months. The Venoms have been recording their original bluegrass-tinged songs while they're not playing at Barbes or The Living Room. Keep your eyes peeled for a new album over the next few months.
I have two tours in the works: the first is a west coast jaunt with the wonderful irish virtuosos the David Munnelly Band. And look out for a Patty's Day-season tour through the midwest with the McCabes.
As always, feel free to check the calendar page for updates on appearances around New York and beyond.
Thanks for reading. . .RS

09.19.07 | Fall 2007
It's shaping up to be a busy fall with a full schedule of exciting shows around the northeast and overseas.
The fall headlines are all about Dufus. With a brand new record full of heart and sweat and pride, we celebrate our 10th year with a bunch of shows around New York and head overseas to return to the crowds in Germany, Italy, France, and the UK who have been so loving and supportive over the last few years. We have grown enormously as artists and friends over the last many years of our lives and are so happy to be hard at work shaping our vision into the future. I've added a brand new track to the "listen!" page.
The Five Deadly Venoms have been wowing packed houses in the past few months of the band's young existence, and are really happy with how things are shaping up for the coming months. The Venoms hit the road for a couple of dates and return to our favorite New York venues to showcase the ever-expanding repertoire of creative original music. And oh yeah: we will visit the studios at WKCR in Harlem for the band's very first broadcast on New York radio!
Blue Harvest has a bunch of fun shows coming up around New York, including the long-awaited return to our bluegrass brunch residency, this time just off Times Sq.
As always, check in with the calendar and links pages to keep up-to-date on all the goings on. Thanks for reading! RS

07.05.07 | Summer 2007
The summer months bring the promise of music in the great outdoors! Blue Harvest and the McCabes will be headiing out of town for bluegrass and irish festivals from July to September.

The Five Deadly Venoms have hit the road running since their recent forming in the spring. We've been hard at work on our first recordings at Sheriff Bob Studios in SOHO. You can see us at Barbes at the end of July.

Keep an eye out for Dufus' fall tour of France and England with a festival date in Germany!

03.28.07 | Spring 2007
Very excited that the warmth of spring is here. Blue Harvest has a bunch of gigs coming up and is booking the summer festivals at the moment; keep your eyes peeled for some serious fun with us and other great bands on the summer stages. The McCabes are also back on some dates in April and again in June. Once more: keep your eye on summer festivals dates as the McCabes will be hitting a bunch of the major Irish festivals around the country.

Now that Only Son is back from europe you can expect to see some kick ass New York shows. Check out the band with our friends the Bloodsugars in early April.

Dufus is headed for england in June. Things have been going really well over there for the band and we are psyched to be heading back!

Check myself and Elio Schiavo at our new residency. We can be seen the first Tuesday or every month at the Bluegrass Series run by the Laila Lounge in Brooklyn. We've done a number of these gigs so far and have had some serious fun bringing out some great players to sit in.

01.04.07 | Winter 2007
The lean winter months are upon us! Rick's filling the calendar with some laid-back bluegrass gigs involving various projects at the Laila Lounge in Brooklyn through January, and can be seen at the Mercury Lounge later in the month with Dufus and Only Son, who are well-rested after their fall tour with Regina Spektor. Late in the month he'll head off for a week in Florida with the David Munnelly Band--they never seem to take a rest from the road!

January also hosts the long-awaited record release for Blue Harvest's first full length, being mastered at this writing under the skilled watch of Mike Caffrey at Monster Island in Manhattan. Keep an eye out for some gigs with renowned New York-based traditional irish fiddler Tony Demarco in February.

Also on the horizon is a tour through the midwest in March with the McCabes, as well as a busy Paddy's week with gigs in Atlantic City and on the Jersey Shore.

10.04.06 | Fall 2006
Welcome to the new site! It's shaping up to be a great fall. The last couple of weeks have sent Rick out of town a bunch, doing opening slots for Regina Spektor with Only Son. They've been playing for sold-out crowds all over the northeast, including two nights at Town Hall in New York City.

Dufus is set to go out in November to support their latest release, "the Last Classed Blast." They'll be touring England and Germany through early December.

Rick just signed up for some new dates with the David Munnelly Band. He'll be at the Baltimore Irish Fest in early November, and will do some more when the guys return to the states in Januray.

Blue Harvest has finished their first EP and is hard at work rounding off their first full-length album. Sounding great so far!

We'll keep you posted on all the rest. Check out the above groups on the links page.
